Riverbend at Abiquiu

I loved this sunset at the riverbend. When I looked down, I was shocked to find a memorial to my artist hero- Louisa McElwain! I have painted this famous view several times. I just love it!

A lot of these paintings started with my teardrop trailer. I will pull it out to places like Shiprock or Valley of the Gods, camp overnight, and be up before dawn chasing the long shadows. Sometimes my Chihuahua comes along. More than once a view has stopped me in my tracks and I have driven home knowing exactly what I am going to paint.
