Neapolitan Bluffs
Bluffs along Chama River near Abiquiu. This setting can be found about a mile off the highway, on the road to the monastery. There is an old windmill near here, and the valley blooms in beautiful cactus blossoms in the spring.

I love the challenge of building texture. I paint thickly, in large blocks and strokes, sometimes with the brush working almost like a palette knife. On linen it is a blast. Some of these started on a black canvas, so the light shapes are negative-painted rather than laid on top.
